Unlike standard test specimens that are broken to determine a material's toughness, these blocks are manufactured to highly uniform standards to ensure a testing machine is providing accurate and consistent readings. • Machine Verification: They are used as "reference pieces" to check if an impact tester complies with international standards like ISO and JIS B 7740.

• Certified Material: They are made from highly purified and heat-treated SNCM439 (AISI 4340) steel and typically come with a certificate of verification (e.g., from NK - Nippon Kaiji Kyokai).

• Material: Manufactured from SNCM439 (equivalent to AISI 4340), a high-purity, vacuum-melted steel that has been quenched and tempered (Q.T.) for maximum uniformity.
• Energy Levels (at 0°C): Available in three standard types to verify different machine ranges:
  • Type A (CH-L): Approximately 30 Joules (J).
  • Type B (CH-H): Approximately 100 Joules (J).
  • Type C (CH-SH): Approximately 160 Joules (J).
• Uniformity: The coefficient of variation (CV) for absorbed energy is less than 3%, which is significantly stricter than standard JIS/ISO limits.
