Operating principle

The rotation of the motor is transmitted to the rotor via a torsion wire (suspension wire), and a viscous torque acts on the rotor rotating in the test liquid. The torsion wire rotates in a twisted state at an angle proportional to the magnitude of this viscous torque, and the torsion angle of the torsion wire is the same as the mutual torsion angle of slit disks A and B connected to both ends of the torsion wire. A photosensor installed corresponding to each slit disk reads this torsion angle and converts it into viscosity for display. In addition, a magnetic bearing is attached to the bottom end of the torsion wire, which supports the rotor shaft without contact.
