*User's range function: This product can be used as is, but to get closer to the value obtained by the absolute drying method, a user's range is provided, allowing the customer to freely set the moisture display value. Each range (including the standard range) is independent of the other ranges, so the setting value for each user's range can be changed to suit the object to be measured.
About the measurement values
This product is designed to measure the electrical resistance between the electrodes installed in the sensor section and display the relative moisture value.
Moisture readings are not absolute.
The electrical resistance value is displayed relative to the actual moisture value, so if the compost contains conductive substances (salt, metal, etc.),
there will be a discrepancy with the actual moisture value.
If the proportions of substances contained in the compost are uniform and small (within a range that does not significantly affect the moisture value), this product
can be used for comparative testing, etc. by adjusting the settings.
Sponge Test Moisture Estimates
Less than 40%. Compost too dry and does not form a ball when compressed and the hand is dry after discarding the material.
40-45%. The compost forms a ball when squeezed but does not remain in a ball when the hand is opened.
45-45%. A ball forms when the compost is compressed but it falls apart if tapped with the knuckle of the other hand.
50-55%. The ball of compost stays intact when tapped but no water is visible on the hands
55-60%. The ball stays intact and sheen can be seen on the skin but no water droplets are produced
60% upper limit. Some drops of water are released when the ball is squeezed and can be seen between the fingers.
65%. The compost is too wet with water running between the fingers when the compost is squeezed.
