The PEmicro CYCLONE-FX-UNIV is designed for use by electronics engineers, embedded systems developers, and manufacturing/production line operators. It is a versatile tool used in both the development and mass production phases of products containing microcontrollers (MCUs)

Primary users and their applications include:

• Debug firmware: The Cyclone FX acts as a high-speed debug probe that connects to standard Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) like NXP's MCUXpresso, Keil MDK-ARM, or STM32CubeIDE to test and debug their code.
• Prototype testing: They can program initial firmware onto prototype boards to test functionality and perform automated tests and calibration before final production.
• Develop programming scripts: Engineers write and test the specific sequences and programming images that will later be used in production. 

• In-Circuit Flash Programming (ISP): Operators can program MCUs directly on the assembled Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) without a host PC, often with a single button press via the touchscreen or start button.
• Automated Production Lines: The device can be integrated into automated test fixtures and production lines, controlled remotely by a PC using the control SDK (Software Development Kit) over USB, Ethernet, or Wi-Fi.
• Secure Programming: Manufacturers use advanced security features like RSA/AES encryption and programming count limitations to protect the intellectual property (IP) of the firmware being programmed.
• Serialization: It automatically programs unique serial numbers and dynamic data onto each individual board during the process. 

• Firmware upgrades: The portable nature and simple button-press operation allow for easy and reliable updates of device firmware in the field without needing a complex computer setup
